Confining to the Canary Islands, we enjoy a sound economic system and political stability as a part of Spain and the EEC.

The Spanish banking system has proven itself to be one of the most solid in the world.

But obviously we were also bashed by the global financial crisis and as our local economy depends a lot on incolimng tourosts from varios European countries. The financial situation in the countries of origin did effect our economy.

To make things worse the financial turmoil affected the building, development industry in whole Spain (including the Canary Islands) and real estate values got frozen and falling.

This also is a global tendency as it is linked directly to the gobal banking crisis.

Todays situation is still unclear or rather shaky , the real estate industry is very slow and stagnant, the prices of the properties have frozen and in some particular areas on the Canary Islands the prices have even fallen, the banks qualification of potential clients (for mortgages) have become extremly strict, the tasacion value of the properties by the bank have dropped by approximately 20%.

Does this mean that there is no scope or hope in this Industry (real estate, building) which consitituded almost 50% of our economy ?

We could be held for bold or for risky as we believe that there is still business to be made in this Industry on the Canary Islands.

Certainly the pace is much more slower and the prespectives for growth in the coming years is smaller to what were used to before the crash.

The Canary Islands are situated only 4 hours (flight) from major European countries with the great advantage of one of the best climates in the world throughout the year. There is a desire and growth in people who wish to have their second home on the Canary Islands and in many cases simply would like to live on the Canary Islands.

The Canary Islands have great infrastructure and are very safe.

With some of these vital factors (one considers when investing into property purchase) as strong arguments , we are 100% certain that the Canary Islands will definitely be one of the few places in the world which will start functioning as soon as we, on the European scene, start walking out of the crisis.
